Coffee Check-In: Contingency

Busy day ahead, so I'm keeping today's check-in pretty brief.

First, Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! Whether you're a biological dad, stepdad, pet dad (don't knock it y'all - I get the animosity, but until you know WHY someone is only a pet parent, keep your judgy pants to yourselves 😘), a father figure, etc. I hope it's a great day for you! And for those who are missing, grieving, and/or have complicated relationships with their dads, I'm sending you lots of love and good energy today ❤️️

The two months severance package I received with my layoff is nearly at an end, and it's hard to imagine it's already here. I've done a lot and learned a lot during this time, but contingency plans are top of mind for me. It's a bit easier when most resources are provided to you by an employer, but I'm learning the nuances of what that looks like working on my own so far.

We flew Delta out to Oregon and back for many reasons, but the new free wifi was a big one - except it didn't work both ways. I couldn't do more than Google something. I also hadn't anticipated SUCH BAD service and wifi when we were out there. When other things were taking up the wifi (cause, yeah, the standard level is 25 MBPS out there 😅), I couldn't use my hotspot because the service was so bad. That left me slamming out a project when we got home, and OUR internet yesterday was awful for whatever random reason that made me want to be back out in the land of no technology!

My grandfather served in the 147th Army Infantry Regiment during WWII, and their motto was "Always Ready." I learned that around the time I was diagnosed with ADHD, and it became a little mantra for me as well for a time. And it's still something I look to, but I've also learned to relax a bit more, and I will talk about that in-depth another time. However, in this new work landscape I am exploring, especially after the last three weeks, I need to continue to dig into my research skills to find more tools and strategies to help during unexpected situations.

I scheduled our Thrive shipment to arrive soon after we got home this week, so I'm back to enjoying my Decaf Fortado with some Four Sigmatic Think creamer again this morning! Chris is enjoying a Vivida coffee, which for a lighter roast, has a great body, and we love the extra Vitamin B12! Speaking of Chris, he started a blog a while back and revisited it yesterday, so if you're interested in what my incredible, crazy (in a good way! 😜) husband is up to, check it out! I'm beyond proud of him ❤️️
